About 5:25pm, on Sunday 31 December 2023, police and emergency services were alerted to an incident at Burswood Park, in which two children were located unresponsive in the river.
The two children, a 6-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl, were pulled from the river by members of the public and administered CPR, before being conveyed by SJA WA to Perth Children's Hospital.
Sadly, both children were unable to be revived.
Officers from the Coronial Investigation Squad have taken carriage of the investigation and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Both children are known to each other and were in attendance at Burswood Park with their families.
