Businesses' help is needed to plan for Georges River's growing economic future

Georges River Council

Local business and industry leaders are encouraged to have input on the future of Georges River's economic growth.

Georges River Council is conducting an extensive business survey in order to learn about the challenges businesses face, understand business sentiment, shape programs and initiatives to support local business through Council's Economic Development Strategy and develop a benchmark for future surveys.

Georges River Mayor Nick Katris said the survey would help Council better understand the strengths, opportunities, challenges and culture of our local businesses and economy.

"Council invested $47 million as part of the Economic and Social Recovery Plan in response to COVID-19.

"We want to help bring the vibrancy back as our economic recovery continues, and plan support that addresses needs to ensure local businesses thrive.

"With uncertain trading conditions during the pandemic, we want to hear from you so that we can effectively move forward with our retail and hospitality businesses and drive local economic growth."

The online survey released today asks for input across various key focus areas including:

  • COVID-19 impact

  • Business confidence

  • Skills shortages

  • Traditional vs online sales

  • Future expectations

Five lucky participants will receive a $100 gift card to spend locally.

The survey will be open until Friday, 8 April 2022.

For the best opportunity for everyone to have a say, people who are from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can ring 131 450 – a free interpreting service, to connect with Council.
