Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario - FedNor

FedNor funding helps local business scale-up and create jobs in the Municipality of Markstay-Warren

Today, Marc G. Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages and to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, announced a Government of Canada investment of $46,060 to help Boreal Naturals modernize its operations and triple its production. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Provided through FedNor's Targeted Manufacturing Initiative for Northern Ontario, this repayable investment will help Boreal Naturals acquire specialized equipment such as packers, weighers, elevators, fillers, mixers and more. This priority project is expected to help the business expand into new markets, increase sales, exports and profitability, while creating up to 24 new products and four high-quality jobs. Once complete, this expansion project will also allow Boreal Naturals to establish new frozen food processing methods and accommodate more farmers looking to freeze and pack their products in Northern Ontario.
