- Campaign highlights positive impact fostering has on children and young people and carers
- Foster and Family Carers Week (April 6-12) marks commitment to building safe and inclusive communities
A total of 125 new foster and family carers have joined the child protection system thanks to the Cook Government's State-wide recruitment campaign, 'Become a foster carer - Make a difference to a child's life'.
Launched in August 2023, the campaign has reached Western Australians through social media, radio, digital billboards, and podcasts, driving annual enquiries to become a foster carer up from just 90 pre-campaign to more than 700 in the past year.
The three-year campaign has highlighted the personal fulfillment gained from becoming a foster and family carer and busted common myths which had discouraged potential carers from applying.
