The City of Casey welcomes the Victorian Government's announcement that work to upgrade Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road is set to start in the middle of this year.
The project will involve duplicating Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road between Thompsons Road and South Gippsland Highway and is being delivered as part of the Suburban Roads Upgrade - South Eastern Roads and Northern Roads package, jointly funded by the Victorian and Australian governments.
City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said Council was pleased that work to duplicate this important north-south arterial road would start this year.
"This project is good news for motorists and the local community as it will help to alleviate congestion and improve safety along this busy stretch of road, as well as ensuring greater access through and around Cranbourne and Cranbourne East," she said.
"The upgrade will have a flow-on effect to other roads in the area, helping to reduce through traffic in High Street, Cranbourne, and improve access and traffic flow around the town centre."
Ms Duff said Council had been advocating to achieve the best project outcomes for residents and commuters since the Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road upgrade was announced in 2018.
"We will continue to advocate for what our community needs as part of this project, including safe and connected shared paths for all ages and abilities and enhanced landscaping and boulevard tree planting to improve the amenity of the area.
