Cash seized; man charged after Parramatta vehicle stop - Criminal Groups Squad

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged a man after seizing more than $18,000 cash during a vehicle stop at Parramatta earlier this year.

On Wednesday 21 April 2021, police stopped a black Volkswagen Tiguan at Church Street, Parramatta, and spoke with the driver – a 46-year-old man.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, police seized $18,100 cash.

The man was released pending further inquiries and an investigation commenced by detectives attached to the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad.

Following further investigations, detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Westmead from 11am yesterday (Thursday 17 June 2021).

During the search, police seized documentation, a laptop and other electronic devices, which will undergo further examination.

About 8.30am today (Friday 18 June 2021), officers arrested a 46-year-old Westmead man at Granville Police Station.

He was subsequently charged with deal with property proceeds of crime.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 6 July 2021.

Inquiries are continuing.
