CCTV released after man assaulted during football match

Melbourne Divisional Response Unit investigators are hoping to identify four men following an assault during a football match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Anzac Day.

Investigators believe the men became involved in a verbal dispute with a 27-year-old man while watching Collingwood and Essendon play about 6pm on 25 April.

The Cheltenham man walked away from the group and watched the rest of the game from the concourse area.

At the end of the game, the group approached the victim and assaulted him before one man pushed him to the ground.

The group fled on foot when security intervened.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and images of four men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

One man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, medium build, with receding short brown hair, clean shaven and was wearing a black jacket and a Collingwood scarf.

The second man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, athletic build, with brown hair and was wearing a black jacket with a cream lining and a brown t-shirt.

The third man is described as having a solid build, with dark hair and a beard, and was wearing a black puffer jacket and black polo top.

The fourth man is described as having light-coloured hair and was wearing a grey jumper, an Essendon beanie and scarf.

Anyone who recognises the men or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
