- Professor Ian Frazer has been named the Queensland Government's new Biomedical Advisor
- Creator of the cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil, Professor Frazer will also take on the role of Chair of the Translational Science Hub Statement of Cooperation Steering Committee.
Professor Ian Frazer, has been appointed the Queensland Government's Biomedical Advisor and Chair of the Translational Science Hub Statement of Cooperation Steering Committee.
Professor Fraser is an internationally recognised industry leader in the biomedical field. He is recognised globally for his contribution to medical science, and particularly his work in developing the human papillomavirus (HPV) cervical cancer vaccine.
As Queensland's new Biomedical Advisor, Professor Frazer will work with the industry to promote Queensland's biomedical sector and encourage further investment into the Queensland biomedical ecosystem.
Professor Frazer will also lead an expert steering committee for the Translational Science Hub to deliver the next generation of medical advancements.
In December 2022, global healthcare company Sanofi announced they would establish a Translational Science Hub in Queensland that would connect with Sanofi's mRNA Centre of Excellence based in the US and France
The Translational Science Hub brings together Sanofi, The Palaszczuk Government, The University of Queensland and Griffith University, to establish world-first mRNA research in Queensland.
Professor Fraser will chair the Steering committee overseeing the implementation of the Translational Science Hub.
