Champagne To Push Canada Agenda At G7 Meeting In Paris

Department of Finance Canada

Ottawa, Ontario - Amid rising global divisions and uncertainty, Canada is building a stronger, more independent, and resilient economy by pursuing strategic engagement with international partners while advancing a robust economic plan at home.

To that end, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will participate in the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting on May 18-19 in Paris, France. This meeting will be an opportunity to advance work on shared global challenges and lay the groundwork ahead of the upcoming G7 Leaders' Summit, which will be held next month in Évian, France.

On May 19, the Minister will participate in the No Money for Terror Ministerial Conference. This will be an opportunity to discuss the progress made since the adoption in 2018 of the Paris agenda, which outlines a global commitment to strengthen the efficiency of action against terrorism financing, and to identify next priorities for collective action.

While in Paris, Minister Champagne will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts and government leaders to build on Canada's trade diversification efforts, advance strategic partnerships, and attract new investment opportunities to Canada.
