Charges laid after Strike Force Raptor locate loaded firearm and prohibited weapons, NSW

A man will face court today charged after Strike Force Raptor seized a loaded shotgun, prohibited weapons and drugs from a home in Sydney's west.

As part of ongoing investigations into the acquisition and use of prohibited weapons, Strike Force Raptor executed a search warrant at a home in Marayong about 7.30am yesterday (Tuesday 12 February 2019).

Investigators located a loaded shotgun, ammunition, two electronic control devices, a hunting knife, a set of handcuffs, a ballistic vest, two prohibited batons, cannabis plants, cannabis seeds, and methylamphetamine.

A second hunting knife was located during a search of a female resident's handbag.

The items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

Strike Force Raptor investigators spoke with the residents – a 47-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman –before arresting the man and taking him to Riverstone Police Station.

The man was charged with acquire unregistered prohibited firearm, acquire prohibited firearm - no licence, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unregistered prohibited firearm, not keep safe - prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without licence, seven counts of possess prohibited weapon, two counts of possess prohibited drug and cultivate prohibited plant.

He was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Wednesday 13 February 2019).
