Chilly Southeast, Warm West in National Forecast

Taking a look at tomorrow's weather pattern. We do have a strong high building in the Bight that extends a ridge into central and eastern parts of the country, bringing generally dry and settled weather.

But it does continue to direct a really cold southerly airflow across the far south-east, with showers and snow down to low levels for Tasmania.

Just a few isolated showers about the coastal fringe in the far east, while out in the west really starting to warm up. Daytime temperatures between 6°C to 10°C above average, but some showers and storms through the region.

Let's go around the country now, taking a closer look state by state. Starting with Queensland.

It's expected to be a dry and sunny day across the majority of the state, with just some morning fog patches through eastern districts and some isolated light showers south of about Bundaberg and north of Ingham.

Daytime temperatures within a few degrees of average for September. For Brisbane, a partly cloudy day and a top of 25°C.

For New South Wales, partly cloudy conditions expected through eastern areas, with isolated showers most likely about the coastal fringe and some snow showers about alpine areas.

There is a gusty southerly change, however, that's expected to race up the east coast, and we do have a Hazardous Surf Warning current for both the Sydney and the Hunter coasts.

Further inland, however, dry and sunny conditions. For Sydney, a partly cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower about the coastal fringe and a top of 18°C. For Canberra, partly cloudy and a top of 13°C.

It's also going to be a really cold day across Victoria with those southerly winds. With just some isolated light showers on and south of the ranges, easing during the evening.

For Melbourne, a partly cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower and a top of 13°C.

Moving on to Tasmania, we've just got some isolated light showers throughout western and southern parts, falling as snow down to around 700 metres, dry through the north-east.

For Hobart, a partly cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower and a top of 14°C.

Moving on to South Australia, it is expected to be a chilly start, with morning frost patches throughout southern and eastern parts, but then a dry and mostly sunny day with just a bit of cloud through the far south-east.

For Adelaide, a partly cloudy day with a top of 17°C.

Moving on to Western Australia, we've got these showers and storms that are expected through the interior that will gradually ease during the evening.

And then just some afternoon shower and storm activity will start to extend down through western areas.

As I mentioned, it is going to be a really warm day through the south-west, in fact, Perth, expecting its warmest day since April with a partly cloudy day and a top of 30°C.

Moving on to our tropical north.

A generally dry and sunny day across the majority with just a slight chance of a shower about the coastal areas.

For Darwin, a slight chance of an early morning shower, then a sunny day and a top of 35°C.
