Christmas tours for northern communities

Residents of the northern suburbs are being offered twelve free Christmas bus tours.

Residents can meet our Christmas elves and travel on a tour bus leaving from Corio's Cloverdale Community Centre and Rosewall Neighbourhood Centre or from Norlane Community Centre.

Departing at 8pm, bus tours will take passengers to the Geelong Waterfront where they will watch the floating Christmas tree light and sound show.

On the return trip, buses will tour the northern suburbs and view the suburban Christmas lights along the route.

Tours will take place on 18, 19, 21 and 22 December, departing at 8pm. Each trip will take around 2 hours.

Bookings can be made via https://www.geelongaustralia.com.au/christmastours or by calling your local community centre.

Cloverdale Community Centre - 5275 4415

Rosewall Neighbourhood Centre – 5275 7409

Norlane Community Centre - 5275 8124

The bus rides, community centre activities and the beautiful new 6-metre Christmas tree located on Cox Road, are all funded by the City's $60,000 allocation to Christmas in the North.

Quotes attributed to Deputy Mayor Kylie Grzybek:

The buses are aimed at giving more members of our northern suburbs community easy access to the fun and excitement of Christmas in central Geelong.

We'd love to see all of the buses full and a big group enjoying a night out together. So please call or drop in at one of the three community centres and book a seat or make a booking online.

Quotes attributed to Cr Anthony Aitken, Windermere Ward:

Council wanted to expand on the successful Christmas activities in the CBD and this year funded a special range of 'Christmas in the North' activities. A major aim is to help spread the Christmas cheer to all parts of Geelong.

The introduction of the free community buses is an important part of the program, along with the special Christmas events being held at each of the community centres in our northern suburbs. We really hope our community enjoys the celebrations and takes full advantage of the free buses.

A big thanks to the staff and volunteers at the Cloverdale, Rosewall and Norlane Community Centres and McHarrys Buses for their efforts in making these initiatives happen. Merry Christmas and enjoy.
