City of Darwin Seeks Community Input on Library Services

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin is inviting library users and members of the community to provide feedback on City of Darwin's Libraries, including services provided, library facilities and operating hours.

City of Darwin operates four libraries across the municipality, delivering library services to residents, travellers and visitors.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the aim of the survey is to better understand who is using the library and capture feedback on the resources being utilised.

"We are very proud of our four Libraries, located at Casuarina, Darwin City, Karama and Nightcliff, which service nearly 400,000 visits per annum, maintain a collection of 80,000 items and provide programs and activities that are attended by 37,000 people," Mr Vatskalis said.

"City of Darwin's Libraries are community hubs where people go to borrow books, enter the virtual world, meet for recreation and share information and a love of learning.

"Feedback captured in the survey will help us understand how different people experience and utilise the library; identify trends from different user groups and ensure we are meeting everyone's needs," he said.

The aim of the Library survey is to understand preferences around library opening hours, whether the spaces and facilities provided are adequate for the needs of the community and capture feedback on the range of items available to borrow.

The survey will also capture feedback on the quality of library services and seek input into potential changes to programming and communication preferences.

The Library survey closes on Sunday 22 June 2025.
