City to welcome new Director Corporate Performance

The City of Greater Bendigo is pleased to announce Jessica Howard as its new Director Corporate Performance.

Ms Howard joins the City following roles as Director Policy and Cabinet in the Office of the Victorian Premier, as Director Infrastructure and Development at Mount Alexander Shire, and Chief of Staff to then Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Public Transport and Major Projects, Jacinta Allan.

She is also a former Councillor at Mount Alexander Shire, and was a Senior Policy Officer with the Cape York Land Council and lecturer at Melbourne University.

Chief Executive Officer Craig Niemann said Ms Howard's experience in providing high level strategic advice, policy development, and sound understanding of Local and State government processes and issues made her a strong candidate.

"Jessica has built a diverse career in government and advisory roles, while leading and supporting capable teams. Her experience at the State Government level is particularly valuable, as the State is a key partner of Local Government, while her experience in Local Government has seen her manage a diverse set of portfolios," Mr Niemann said.

"She will be leading the Finance, IT, People and Culture, Governance, Change and Transformation, and Customer Experience and Corporate Planning units, and supporting the upcoming move to Galkangu - Bendigo GovHub and ongoing focus on financial sustainability.

"We look forward to Jessica joining the team and bringing her wide-ranging skillset to the organisation."

Ms Howard said she was excited by the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of the City.

"Having previously worked in Local Government and also served as a Councillor, I understand the important leadership role a council has in a community," she said.

"The City is a highly regarded Local Government and I am delighted to accept this role and get to know the Corporate Performance staff and broader organisation."

Ms Howard will start with the City on Monday March 6.
