Civil engineering company invests in Northam manufacturing hub

  • Civil engineering company Reinforced Earth has purchased a 4.02ha site at DevelopmentWA's Avon Industrial Park.
  • The site will become a manufacturing hub and will create up to 22 new jobs during and after construction

National civil engineering company Reinforced Earth is building a new Western Australian manufacturing hub near Northam after purchasing a 4.02 hectare site at DevelopmentWA's Avon Industrial Park, east of the town's centre.

Reinforced Earth specialises in the design and supply of proprietary retaining wall solutions and buried concrete arches widely used in the mining and civil market.

They will build various custom engineered products at the site at Avon Industrial Park and will employ up to 10 people with plans to expand in the future.

Northam is the gateway to WA's Goldfields and also has road access to the iron ore-rich Pilbara while only being 90 minutes from Perth.

Avon Industrial Park is a 200ha estate adjacent to the Great Eastern Highway and Trans-Australian Railway.

Created specifically to meet the needs of businesses servicing the rural, resources and mineral processing markets, it is part of a wider 470ha park developed in partnership with the Wheatbelt Development Commission and the Avon Community Development Foundation.

Businesses already located within the Park include DE Engineers, Waste Equipment Solutions, Coast to Coast Truck Wreckers, CHC Scaffolding, Interquip, Precision Mechanical and Nash Mining & Civil Equipment Rental.

Adding to the appeal for businesses is the Shire of Northam's Industry Attraction Fund, which offers grants of up to $1 million to bring new businesses to the local area and support existing businesses in regional expansion.

Stage 2 general industrial lots of up to 10.6ha at Avon Industrial Park are available, with requirements for larger lots within the estate able to be discussed with DevelopmentWA. Lots are priced from $240,000 excluding GST for a 2.7ha site.

Stage 2 lots are connected to power and scheme water, as well as access to broadband communications.

"The Avon Industrial Park is a great example of the way the McGowan Government is utilising its land assets to drive economic growth, particularly in regional WA.

"Businesses are starting to recognise the value of Northam as a regional hub to better service mining and agricultural markets in WA.

"I also want to acknowledge the Shire of Northam for taking the initiative in trying to attract and support business in their community through their Industry Action Fund - it's what good local government is all about."
