Clare Scriven Re-elected in Legislative Council

SA Gov

The Electoral Commission of South Australia formally declared the final election result of the Legislative Council at a ceremony in Adelaide today, confirming the re-election of Labor MLC Clare Scriven.

The return of Ms Scriven as a Member of the Legislative Council means she can continue to deliver for the state in her role as the Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development and the Minister for Forest Industries.

The Malinauskas Labor Government is firmly committed to delivering for all South Australians.

As a Limestone Coast local with a special affinity for the state's rural, remote and regional communities, Clare Scriven is an important voice for regional South Australia and an important member of Peter Malinauskas' diverse and hard-working team.

The final election result means Labor now holds 10 seats in the Legislative Council, a position not experienced by any government in almost a quarter of a century.

Labor has already recorded a record result in the House of Assembly, holding 34 out of 47 seats.

As put by Premier Peter Malinauskas

Clare Scriven is a highly valued member of the Caucus and the Ministry and brings significant skills and experience as Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development and Minister for Forest Industries.

I am grateful that she has been returned, and will continue to bring her perspective as a South East local to government decisions.

We look forward to the resumption of Parliament tomorrow, where we will be introducing new legislation to ensure our state is in the best possible position to manage the fuel crisis, should conditions worsen.

As put by Clare Scriven

I am sincerely grateful to the people of South Australia for putting their faith in me to continue for another eight years as a Member of the Legislative Council.

Since 2018 I have had the honour of representing our great state, and I am proud to be a regional voice advocating for the advancement of our state's primary industries, forest industries and regions.

In the weeks, months and years ahead it is vital that Labor continues to meet the expectations of a public that has placed their confidence in our ability to govern.

I will continue to listen to all of those in our regions, and deliver on a stronger future for all South Australians, regardless of where they live.
