16 April 2026
The Finocchiaro CLP Government has delivered on its election commitment to upgrade the 'Kiss and Go' area at Driver Primary School. The upgrade improves safety and reduces traffic congestion for the school's 450 students during peak pick-up and drop-off times. The project was delivered under budget at $1.25 million, below the original $1.5 million allocation.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government has today delivered on its election commitment, unveiling the upgraded Driver Primary School 'Kiss and Go'-providing a safer, more efficient drop-off and pick-up area for students and families.
Attending the school, CLP Member for Drysdale Clinton Howe said he was pleased to see the project completed.
"We have 450 students at this busy school, and families can now enjoy a safer, less stressful school run, with reduced congestion and improved flow during peak periods," he said.
"It's incredibly satisfying to deliver a practical solution that improves safety while keeping traffic moving efficiently."
"This was the first public commitment I made as a candidate. After doorknocking across the suburb, many parents and residents raised concerns about safety and congestion along Driver Avenue-particularly in the afternoons."
"Today is a clear example of that feedback being acted on. It's another step forward in delivering the long-term vision I have for the future of our electorate."
The new design allows vehicles to proceed to the rear of the school, where children are dropped off and collected, before turning around in a cul-de-sac-significantly improving traffic flow and safety.
Driver Primary School Principal Danielle Hall said the new area would benefit both the school and the wider community.
"As a community school, we worked closely with local residents to address congestion concerns. This new facility helps keep our students safe while also respecting our neighbours," she said.
Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure Bill Yan said the upgrade would make a meaningful difference for families.
"The new 'Kiss and Go' area makes it safer and easier for parents, carers, and students, while reducing congestion in the surrounding streets," he said.
"This is another investment by the CLP Government to restore the Territory lifestyle and make everyday life easier for local families."
