The Finocchiaro CLP Government is proud to be delivering an election commitment to upgrade the Tracy Village Sporting Precinct.
The project is a 3 million investment delivered in partnership with Football NT and Tracy Village Social and Sports Club, with the initial phase supporting baseball, softball, cricket, AFL, and football codes.
The finalised masterplan focuses on delivering quality infrastructure to enhance local club facilities and restore the Territory lifestyle.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is investing $3 million to deliver extensive upgrades at the Tracy Village Sporting Precinct, improving access to modern, fit‑for‑purpose facilities for Territory families and local clubs.
With the masterplan now complete and backed by community support, the precinct is ready to move into the construction phase. The redevelopment will benefit a wide range of sporting codes, including football, AFL, cricket, softball, baseball and basketball.
Minister for People, Sport and Culture Jinson Charls said the investment will help ensure Territorians of all ages and abilities can stay active.
"The new masterplan was developed with community consultation to ensure the design reflects exactly what local clubs and families need.
"There is a clear demand for upgraded infrastructure. This development supports the CLP Government's commitment to providing quality facilities that encourage participation, expand opportunities for clubs, and create vibrant spaces for the Top End community," he said.
Following an initial $400,000 investment to develop the masterplan, the upgrades will be delivered in multiple phases.
Football NT CEO Jamie Monteith said he is excited to see the project progressing, noting the significant impact it will have on grassroots sport and participation.
"It is more than just a new infrastructure; it is a long-term investment in people, participation, and the future of the precinct. Importantly, it will provide a strong and sustainable home for Hellenic Athletic Club.
"The inclusion of dedicated spaces, particularly for female participation, is critical, with Hellenic AC continuing to lead the way for women and girls' football in Darwin and across the Northern Territory," he said.
A significant highlight of the development is the potential for the Hellenic Football Club to establish a long-term home base for the first time in its history.
Hellenic Football Club President Kosta Boubaris shared his enthusiasm about the prospect of the club securing a permanent home after 68 years.
"The dream of a home ground is something many generations of players and supporters have been eagerly awaiting.
"Home ground facilities mean we can continue to facilitate the social and physical benefits that sports provided to young boys and girls, through to adults, while also making it easier for our volunteers," he said.
CLP Member for Wanguri, Oly Carlson said "I am thrilled for our local and the broader community. This masterplan will unlock incredible opportunities and create a vibrant space for families and generations to come."
CLP Member for Casuarina, Khoda Patel, said "It's wonderful to see the Tracy Village vision coming to life. This is a real win for the local community delivering a space to boost social connection and youth engagement."
Construction is scheduled to commence following the finalisation of funding agreements and project arrangements.
