School holidays are the perfect time for Territory families to get outdoors and enjoy world-class fishing.

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is continuing to invest in boating and fishing infrastructure across the Territory.

Upgrades to boat ramps, pontoons, jetties and all-abilities facilities are improving access, safety and the Territory lifestyle.

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is encouraging Territorians to make the most of the school holidays by heading out fishing and enjoying the Territory lifestyle.

Whether it's flicking a lure from the bank, taking the kids down to a local jetty, or heading offshore in the boat, fishing is a way of life for many Territorians.

To support the Territory's strong fishing culture, the CLP Government is continuing to invest in boating and fishing infrastructure across the Territory, ensuring families can safely access some of the best fishing experiences in the country.

Minister for Recreational Fishing and Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Gerard Maley said fishing was more than just a pastime for Territorians.

"Fishing is part of who we are as Territorians. It's what many of us grow up doing and it's something we love sharing with our kids and grandkids," Minister Maley said.

"School holidays are a great opportunity to get the family outdoors, switch off the screens and make some memories on the water.

"As a keen fisho myself, there's nothing better than seeing families at the boat ramp before sunrise, full of excitement.

"Whether you're chasing a barra from the bank, dropping a line off a pontoon or heading offshore, the Territory offers world-class fishing experiences right on our doorstep."

Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure Bill Yan said the government was delivering practical improvements to boating infrastructure to make getting out on the water easier and safer.

"We know Territorians love their fishing, and we're making sure our infrastructure keeps pace with growing demand," Mr Yan said.

"At Dundee Beach, we're progressing plans for a larger, permanent car park to support the increasing number of fishos using the upgraded facilities

"New all-abilities loading platforms are also progressing at Dinah Beach and Corroboree, helping make boating and fishing more accessible for everyone with plans to deliver an all-abilities platform at Shady Camp in 2027.

"The Daly River public boat ramp has reopened following extensive repairs to Wooliana Road after this year's significant wet season damage, and we're continuing work right across the Territory to maintain and improve key boating facilities."

Fishos are reminded to drive to the road conditions when driving to Daly River boat ramp on Wooliana Rd. Check roadreport.nt.gov.au for the latest road conditions before leaving.

Works are also underway to repair or replace navigation aids at Buffalo Creek, while ongoing inspections and maintenance continue at facilities including the Elizabeth River Boat Ramp.

Upgraded CCTV systems have been installed at Dinah Beach Boat Ramp to enhance security and user safety, with a similar system proposed for delivery at Mandorah Marina/Jetty, including coverage of the boat ramp and adjacent car park.

At Dundee Beach, navigation aid upgrades are scheduled for delivery by August, supporting safer marine access for recreational users.

Refurbishment works at Nightcliff Jetty are underway and will improve infrastructure condition and support ongoing recreational fishing within the Darwin urban area.

At Point Stuart Boat Ramp, a new toilet facility is planned for installation in the coming months to improve user amenity and support increased visitation and at Corroboree Boat Ramp, a new pontoon is proposed for construction in Q3 2026, improving access and functionality for recreational users.

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is restoring the Territory lifestyle by backing recreational fishing, investing in infrastructure and ensuring Territorians can continue to enjoy the great outdoors for generations to come.
