The Secretary of State has approved the extension of the contracts of Chief Constable Simon Chesterman and Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Martin.
The Secretary of State has approved the extension of the contracts of Chief Constable Simon Chesterman and Deputy Chief Constable Stephen Martin, following the unanimous recommendation of the Civil Nuclear Police Authority (CNPA).
Chief Constable Chesterman's contract has been extended until March 2028 and Deputy Chief Constable Martin's until April 2029.
The extensions will provide continuity of leadership as the Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) develops its next three-year strategy, responds to the evolving needs of the nuclear sector and continues to strengthen its specialist capabilities across critical national infrastructure.
Susan Johnson, CNPA Chair, said: "The CNC is entering an important period of change and opportunity. As the nuclear sector evolves and demand for the constabulary's specialist capabilities continues to grow, experienced leadership will be essential.
"The CNPA unanimously concluded that extending the appointments of Simon and Stephen was in the best interests of the organisation. Their leadership has helped position the CNC to respond effectively to changing operational and strategic demands.
"These extensions will provide continuity as the organisation develops its future direction while continuing to deliver its critical national mission."
