The next stage of repairs to the landslip along the Coastal Walk will commence from Monday 7 September, with the works expected to be completed by 25 September, weather permitting.

The works are the second stage of repairs to the same landslip section following the May 2025 floods.

Previous works focused on reinforcing and stabilising the footpath footings to make the Coastal Walk safe and usable. This next stage will focus on the landslip itself, including reinforcing the affected area and installing drainage to help prevent further movement of the land.

The Coastal Walk will be closed from 7.00am to 5.00pm each day while works are underway to allow construction machinery, deliveries and repair works to safely take place. The walk will reopen outside these hours.

Council understands the impact a closure has on people who regularly use the Coastal Walk, particularly following the previous extended closure.

The current works program is expected to run from 7 to 22 September. If works are delayed and extend into the school holidays, they will pause and recommence once school returns.

A laydown area at the corner of William Street and Pacific Drive will also be fenced off while works are underway.

Pedestrian access will remain available via the beach or road, and there will be no impact to the cycle lane.

People using the area are asked to allow extra time for their journey and follow signage and temporary access restrictions while construction activities, machinery and deliveries are taking place.
