COI Stakeholders meeting 14th of October 2021

At the 14th of October, a stakeholders meeting on 'the role of institutions for conflict resolution and the position of the people in conflicts on climate change or environmental degradation' took place.

About 25 stakeholders, referees and researchers from Leiden, Nijmegen and Utrecht came together to mutually inform and inspire about research. Multiple research ideas were presented, after which response on these ideas was given by referees. This thus created a nice exchange between science and the legal practice, where the legal practice functioned as a sounding board for the research ideas.

The stakeholders meeting took place in the afternoon at the Central Museum in Utrecht. After a welcome by prof. mr. Ivo Giesen and an opening by Hanneke van Eijken and Thomas Riesthuis, the organisers of the stakeholders meeting, the highlights around the theme of Institutions for Conflict Resolution from 2020 to 2021 were discussed by Miranda Boone, Marieke Dubelaar and Rianka Rijnhout. Subsequently, a research project following the route 'between conflict and cooperation' by the 'Nationale wetenschapsagenda' was presented. Lastly, three COI research ideas were pitched. The meeting ended with a bite and a drink, during which even more ideas were mutually exchanged. This concluded a successful and inspiring meeting, that will hopefully lead to successful and inspiring researches.
