Taking a look at tomorrow's weather map, we can see yet another cold front moving across the south-eastern states. A fresh high pressure system will push in fairly quickly behind that cold front, but we're still likely to see cool and showery conditions across the south-east with gusty winds and snow for some. In the west, we've got a low pressure trough moving across southern inland parts of Western Australia, bringing showers and thunderstorms to some areas. Otherwise, we're looking at mostly settled conditions through eastern and northern parts of the country.
Let's take a state by state look at tomorrow's forecast now, starting with Queensland. Patchy morning fogs across the south-east and central coasts tomorrow, then a partly cloudy day right along the east coast. A few light coastal showers moving through, but they're not likely to amount to too much in the rain gauges. Dry inland with mostly sunny conditions. Temperatures across Queensland tomorrow are expected to be within a degree or two of the September average. For Brisbane, we're heading for a top of 26 °C with a mostly sunny day.
In New South Wales tomorrow, the chance of morning frost about the northern ranges. Then it will be a partly cloudy to mostly sunny day and dry for most areas. The exception will be in the south, where skies are likely to be grayer as a few showers move through, mainly impacting the southern ranges, the southern slopes and the adjacent inland southern plains. We could see some gusty winds about the south-east alpine areas tomorrow as well, particularly during the morning with the chance of damaging winds. Snow is also possible about those southern alpine peaks through the day tomorrow as well. For Sydney tomorrow, a partly cloudy day and a top of 24 °C. Partly cloudy in Canberra tomorrow, with a top of 17 °C.
In Victoria we are expecting to see that cold front moving through, maintaining mostly cloudy conditions and bringing a fresh burst of showers. We are likely to see another 10 to 15 mm about parts of the eastern ranges and parts of the south-west coast as well. It will be drier further inland with mostly sunny conditions in the far north-west. For Melbourne tomorrow we are expecting a top of 15 °C with a few showers moving through.
Moving on to Tasmania, we are expecting to see the impacts of that cold front moving through as well. A cooler south-westerly change coming in. Cloudy conditions and showers continuing across much of the state, with another 20 to 30 mm possible along the west coast. We could see some small hail as well, with some isolated thunderstorms along the west coast too. The snow level will also be dropping down to as low as 300 or 400 metres across southern parts of the state during the afternoon and evening in the wake of that cold front. For Hobart tomorrow, we are heading for a chilly top of 11 °C with a shower or two on the forecast.
For South Australia tomorrow, the chance of morning fog through parts of the south. Then partly cloudy skies as a few showers move through, mainly impacting those southern coastal areas and the lower south-east. They'll generally ease back in the afternoon, however. But we are going to see a fresh burst of showers moving in from the west, mainly impacting the west coast and southern parts of the north-west pastoral through the day tomorrow, particularly through that later part of the day. We could see double digit rainfall figures close to the WA border, but most other areas should see less than 5 mm in the gauge. For Adelaide tomorrow we are heading for a few showers, mainly in the morning with a top of 17 °C.
In Western Australia tomorrow, a low pressure trough and low pressure system are moving across the southern inland parts of the state. They are likely to bring further showers and thunderstorms to some areas, easing across the goldfields but continuing across the Eucla and south interior in particular. Partly cloudy conditions across the remaining parts of southern and west Western Australia, with temperatures generally coming back within a couple of degrees of the average. For Perth, it will be a slightly cooler day tomorrow. Partly cloudy with a top of 19 °C.
Across the Northern Territory tomorrow, the slight chance of a frost in the far south as temperatures drop down quite low once again overnight. Then we've also got the chance of morning fogs across the eastern parts of the Top End, as those easterly winds bring a little bit more moisture onshore. Daytime conditions are expected to be sunny and generally dry across the Territory, with that south-easterly surge easing but still keeping those temperatures a few degrees below the average. For Darwin tomorrow, a sunny day and a top of 32 °C.
