Collingwood Leisure Center Electrifies with Substation Lease

Yarra City Council

The Collingwood Leisure Centre electrification project will transition the facility from gas to 100% renewable electricity and eliminate 304 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.

The project includes installation of efficient electric heat pumps, upgrading pool hall air handling and other energy efficiency upgrades. A new electrical substation kiosk will be installed in Mayors Park, Clifton Hill to supply the additional power required for electrification, with works scheduled to start in May 2026.

Yarra City Council will enter into a long-term lease agreement with CitiPower for lease of the substation easement.

The substation leased easement size will be 6875mm x 6700mm and the substation size approximately 1600mm x 3200mm.

The footpath will be relocated to allow for the installation of the substation.

The project received a $2.9 million grant from the Victorian Government's Thriving Suburbs Program - Powering Wave of Innovation: demonstrating resilient aquatic centres.
