Our CommBank Young Matildas have been drawn into Group A, alongside Vietnam, IR Iran and Lebanon, with the top two sides from each group to join the three highest-seeded teams from the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 – Japan, DPR Korea, and Korea Republic – as well as host nation Uzbekistan in the Finals.
The CommBank Young Matildas advanced to Round 2 of qualifiers after a perfect run in Round 1, beating Guam 13-0 and then defeating hosts Kyrgyz Republic 7-0 to finish at the top of their group.
Returning to the global stage for the first time since 2019, the age-group tournament is set to shift from its erstwhile identity of a U-19 competition and will be played in a U-20 format.
Round 2 of the Qualifiers is set to occur between June 3 to 11, with Australia awaiting news on where they will travel for Round 2 of qualifying.
Leah Blayney’s side has been drawn alongside Vietnam, IR Iran and Lebanon. Dates and kick-off times for all three group stage games will be confirmed closer to the start of qualifying.
