Canberrans have seven weeks to have their say about what features they want to see in the new Canberra Aquatic Centre to be built in Commonwealth Park.
The aquatic centre, which will be located close to light rail stops on Commonwealth Avenue, will include a mix of pools, kids splash-play areas, and facilities that will support a range of aquatic and recreational activities.
A seven-week consultation period starting this school holidays, will capture community views to inform the design and functionality of the new aquatic centre, such as equipment and amenities and year-round usability.
Feedback from Canberrans, key sporting organisations, community groups and peak bodies, will assist in designing a facility that meets the needs of as many users as possible within the available project budget.
The ACT and Australian governments have jointly committed $137.8 million to plan and deliver the new facility.
Construction of the new Centre is expected to start in this parliamentary term, following the finalisation of design and approval processes.
