From new pickleball courts in Sorrento to a spruced-up bar at Main Ridge, we're delivering a string of local projects across the Mornington Peninsula this season.
Work will soon start on the upgrade of the Somerville Railway Station toilet block, improving a facility used every day. A bit further down the road, Grant Road leash free dog park has been upgraded to feature three fenced zones for our community's beloved four-legged companions.
In Sorrento, new pickleball courts will be activated at the Sorrento Community Centre, giving locals of all ages a place to enjoy one of Australia's fastest-growing sports.
Sorrento's foreshore is also set for a refresh, with a new drinking fountain, picnic tables and a bike rack on the way. It's a welcome addition for beachgoers, cyclists and families making the most of the warmer months.
We're working with Mount Eliza Chamber of Commerce to install new seats and tables for the Village Green, creating better opportunities for people to meet and connect in the heart of the village.
In the hinterland, the Main Ridge Bowls Club members and visitors can now enjoy their refreshments at their recently renovated bar.
New goal netting has been installed at Alexandra Park and Emil Madsen reserve, while Shoreham Tennis Club received maintenance work to its club house.
In Rosebud, work is nearing completion at the Senior Citizens Club, where a new roof is being installed.
Mayor Stephen Batty explained that these works highlights how the Shire is getting practical things done for our community "These projects might look small on paper, but they make a difference to the people who use these spaces every day," Cr Batty said.
"Some of these projects reflect the work of clubs, volunteers and community groups who know exactly what their local spaces need. I'd like to thank the people who helped bring these upgrades to life."
