Constitution Road Project Launch And Drop-In Sessions

Constitution-Road

City of Ryde would like thank our community for their ongoing patience and support of the important upgrades that have commenced as part of the Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade Project in Meadowbank.

We understand that projects of this scale and complexity will cause some inconvenience to the adjoining residents and people travelling through the area. Council would like to assure you that all steps are being taken to minimise any inconvenience this project may cause. As part of the delivery phase of the works, Council has planned a series of events to provide program-specific information and to give you the opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming works.

Major works planned for July 2026

To enable road widening and associated infrastructure upgrades to be undertaken safely and effectively, lane closures and traffic detours will need to be implemented along the Constitution Road corridor for the duration of the works. Over the next few weeks, the following key activities are planned:

  • At this stage, commencing the weekend of 17 July, Constitution Road will become a single lane road supporting westbound traffic travelling towards the Meadowbank Railway Station
  • All traffic travelling in the easterly direction will be redirected generally via See Street, Stone Street, Thorn Street and Gale Street
  • Access to homes, businesses and properties will be maintained at all times. Traffic controllers, signage and barriers will be in place to assist pedestrians and motorists during any intermittent driveway access changes while works occur directly outside properties
  • Trees directly impacted by the works, and approved for removal, will be removed to enable road construction works to commence
  • Traffic control and temporary pedestrian access arrangements will be in place to ensure safe and fully accessible pedestrian pathways
  • Utility investigations and survey works will continue along the entire project corridor. In particular, utility works will occur at Ann Thorn Park to enable road construction works to commence

You are invited to the following launch and information sessions

The following events have been organised over the next few weeks, and we invite our community to attend all or any one of these events:

  • Official project launch - the project launch event celebrates the commencement of construction for the Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade Project and will be held at Ann Thorn Park on 9 July 2026 at 10.00am
  • Drop-in information sessions - Council and its contractor will host two information sessions before the proposed traffic detour commences to discuss any specific concerns relating to the traffic changes or the project generally. These sessions will be held on 13 and 15 July between

5.00pm and 6.00pm on the section of footpath on the southern side of Constitution Road, between Bowden and Angas Street.
