Construction Of New Pacific Palms RFS Station Underway

NSW Nationals

Nationals Member for Myall Lakes, Tanya Thompson, has welcomed the start of construction on the new Pacific Palms Rural Fire Service station, strengthening support for local emergency volunteers.

Backed by $2.256 million in NSW Government funding, the project will deliver a purpose-built, multi-vehicle bay facility to support the operational needs of the brigade.

Mrs Thompson attended the sod-turning ceremony today and said the project would strengthen the emergency responses across the Myall Lakes.

"This is about making sure our local crews are properly supported so they can respond when our community needs them most," Mrs Thompson said.

"We are looking forward to the new station and its improved facilities. It will be a game changer for our brigade, and the new location will make a real difference for recruitment. The new building will be front and centre as you drive into Smiths Lake, and that's going to help with attracting new members," Pacific Palms RFS Captain James Turner said.

"This new station will give us the space and facilities we need to continue that work safely and effectively," Mr Turner said.

"Our RFS volunteers do an incredible job protecting lives and property, often in very challenging conditions," said Mrs Thompson.

The facility will also support training and coordination, helping ensure the brigade is well prepared to respond to emergencies.

"RFS volunteers play a critical role in protecting communities across New South Wales and upgrades like these ensure they have the support they need."
