There appears to be some misinformation circulating in the community regarding the community centre. Hopefully the following information will provide some reassurance to you about Council's intentions.
The community centre was the subject of a Council report on 28 May 2026.
The resulting resolution from Council was:
'That Council supports the reopening of the Batemans Bay Community Centre for community use and requests a further report be presented to the September Meeting of Council, prior to the allocation of funds ... '
Council will be reopening the Batemans Bay community centre for community use, subject to general cleaning, maintenance works, the establishment of an operating budget, as well as consulting with the community about demand and preferred uses.
This work is underway, with cleaning, garden works and maintenance scheduled. In addition, Council has some proposed fees and charges on public exhibition, inviting community feedback.
Council has also invited individuals and groups to submit an Expression of Interest for future use and bookings at the centre. This will give us a sense of who wants to book the space, how often and what they need in place in terms of amenities and spaces. This will all be provided to Council when we report back.
If you would like to review the Expression of Interest or make a submission, please visit Council's website and complete the online form. We would be very interested in your thoughts and potential uses for the centre.
In addition, Council will be holding an Open Day event at Batemans Bay Community Centre on 12 August, from 10am to 1pm. You may wish to visit the centre and enjoy a tour of the spaces and rooms available.
