Council Connect 12 September

Good morning Dungog.

This weekend, we've got two big opportunities for you to get involved in shaping our shire's future.

First, on Sunday morning in Clarence Town, we'll be holding a community Focus Group at the School of Arts Hall from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. This is a chance to share your ideas on housing, transport, rural lands, and what matters most to you for our towns.

Then on Sunday afternoon in Dungog, join us at the Doug Walters Pavilion from 2-5pm for our second Walking Tour and Design Workshop. We'll walk the streets together, then workshop ideas about how Dungog should grow over the next 20 to 50 years. Families are more than welcome to come along. We have activity packs for the kids, so you can all get involved.

These sessions are part of the Housing and Infrastructure Master Plan. We want to work with you to plan the next 20 to 50 years, protecting what we love most while also making space for the future. We'd really love to hear your thoughts, so please register and come along.

These are the final sessions which will be held before the draft plans are prepared. So, this is really the last chance to get involved in the initial engagement. Please come along if you can.

We're also calling for two community members to join Council's Australia Day Committee for the 2026 and 2027 events. If you've got any ideas to make celebrations bigger and brighter, or if you're just passionate about recognising the legends through Australia Day Awards, we'd love to hear from you. Expressions of interest close on Tuesday, 2 October, at 4pm. Please head to the Council's website and complete the online form.

There are plenty of ways to get involved this week, whether it's shaping the future of our Shire or helping plan the next Australia Day. We'd love to see you there.

Thank you, everyone, and see you next week.
