Georges River Council is seeking new members for the Multicultural Advisory Committee and the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee. They are part of Council's ongoing commitment to diversity, inclusion and community engagement.
The Multicultural Advisory Committee helps Council better support culturally and linguistically diverse communities. The Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee represents the interests of people with disability.
These committees are crucial for shaping the Council's policies and services. They help ensure that we meet our community's needs.
Both committees include community members, service providers and representatives from relevant agencies. Membership is voluntary. Applicants should have a strong link to the Georges River area and a passion for building a more inclusive community.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Georges River is one of Sydney's most diverse areas. This is something we're very proud of.
"Almost half of our residents were born overseas. More than half speak a language other than English at home. Mandarin, Cantonese, Nepali and Greek are among the most common.
"We also know that around five per cent of our residents need help with daily activities due to disability.
"These committees ensure that we hear and value every voice in our decision-making. Joining an advisory committee is a great way to make a real difference.
"Your ideas and experiences will help us create a welcoming community for everyone."
Expressions of Interest are now open and close on 14 December 2025.
