Council takes next step to capture community vision

Council is launching phase two of the Community Visioning Strategy.
Logan City Council is launching the second phase of its Community Visioning Strategy.

Logan residents have been providing feedback on the future of the city they call home.

In September and October, Council asked the community what the future City of Logan should look like.

It was the first step in a Community Visioning Strategy to develop a new vision for the city which is growing at the fastest rate in its 40-year history.

More than $18 billion in Council and government-planned infrastructure and improvements will be spent in coming years.

The second stage of the Community Visioning Strategy will launch on Monday, November 23 and run until the end of February.

City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson Councillor Laurie Koranski said it was important to listen to those who live and work here.

"We want to understand the kind of city they want Logan to be," Cr Koranski said.

"Having a shared vision will help us put the values and aspirations of our community at the heart of Council's decision-making.

"It will influence Council's annual budget and operations over the next five years guiding what we do, why we do it and when."

Council received many great ideas in the first phase of community feedback.

It will now collate and analyse those suggestions and work further with the community to shape a vision for the city.

Council will announce further opportunities for the community to be involved.

In the project's third stage, a panel will be established to represent the Logan community's many faces and voices.

The panel, supported by content experts, will create a vision of shared hopes and aspirations which will be the starting point for the development of Council's new
five-year Corporate Plan.
