Groups and organisations with ideas to benefit our community, but who might need a financial boost to get their project across the line, should consider contacting City of Darwin.
City of Darwin has just opened round two of its Community Grants Program for 2022-23.
Lord Mayor, Kon Vatskalis, said Council had made $100,000 available this financial year for its Community Grants Program, with $50,000 available in round two.
"This program is aimed squarely at proposals we think will benefit our community," Mr Vatskalis said.
"If you think you have a one-off program, activity or event which will build community capacity, we'd welcome an application."
Successful applicants could be eligible for up to $10,000 in funding. Applications for round two are open from 1-30 September.
Grant priorities are:
- Reconciliation,
- Collaborative projects
- Engagement and leadership by underrepresented populations from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Grants will be available to community groups and organisations with programs, activities or events being held between 1 January to 30 June 2023.
Previous grant recipients include the Hindu Society's Harmony Food Festival, Darwin Men's Shed programs, Melaleuca Australia's Kushona Collective to support men's programs and Two Two One Mental Health Charity's GO Nights Cultural Connection workshops for young women aged 10-17 years.
"Darwin has a diverse and vibrant range of cultures," Mr Vatskalis said.
"Our grants program aims to build and strengthen our community by supporting groups with one-off, unique and sustainable events and programs."
