Council welcomes major funding commitment for Camerons Lane

Mitchell Shire Council has welcomed a $150 million commitment by the Federal Opposition towards the Camerons Lane/Hume Freeway Diamond Interchange.

Visiting Beveridge today, Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese said his government would fund the project if elected, providing a vital step towards key infrastructure for the rapidly growing Beveridge community and providing a much-needed opportunity for employment. He was joined by Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Catherine King and Federal Member for McEwen, Rob Mitchell.

A diamond interchange at Camerons Lane on the Hume Freeway at Beveridge would create up to 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, unlock 30,000 homes and provide access to jobs and services across the Northern Growth Corridor.
