NZ Police Close In on Subaru Thieves

Dunedin Police have made inroads into a Subaru stealing spree in the city, identifying two people of interest, and expecting more apprehensions to come.

Since August, Police have recorded almost 30 incidents involving stolen Subaru vehicles around the Otago Coastal area, with a "notable" increase in offending during October.

Otago Coastal Area Commander Inspector Porima Rangitutia says Police have spoken to two people in relation to the thefts.

"The investigation is continuing and we are following positive lines of enquiry to identify others involved.

"The thefts have affected a wide range of victims, some of whom were left struggling to get to school, the supermarket or work. It's offending that has a massive impact on people's lives."

Inspector Rangitutia urged people to report suspicious activity to Police as soon as possible, via 111 if it's happening now, or through 105 if it's after the fact.
