OSCE

From 2 to 4 November in Lugano, the OSCE Secretariat, in co-operation with Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) brought together young participants from OSCE participating States and Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation for a three-day workshop to explore the role of youth in strengthening dialogue, diplomacy and multilateral co-operation.

Under the title "Amplifying Youth Voices for a Safer Future", the workshop combined exchanges with diplomats and practitioners, academic discussions, negotiation training and simulation exercises. The opening session featured a keynote address by and dialogue with Ignazio Cassis, Swiss Federal Councillor and 2026 OSCE Chairman-in-Office, where he stressed that "when diplomacy seems impossible, it becomes indispensable".

Participants also explored the OSCE's mandate, principles and structures, its engagement with Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation, and its work on the youth, peace and security agenda, including perspectives from participating States.
