Council's Native Plant Giveaway Boosts Garden Biodiversity

Georges River Council

In celebration of National Tree Day, Georges River Council is giving away native plants to residents, aiming to enhance biodiversity and encourage the presence of native birds within our community.

The giveaway will feature a diverse selection of native grasses, shrubs, groundcovers, and small trees, all carefully chosen to thrive in garden environments.

Georges River Council Mayor Nick Katris said, "This giveaway serves as a valuable tool for nurturing our local ecosystem. By planting these native species, we are providing habitats for native birds and promoting the conservation of our unique flora and fauna."

Residents are invited to select and collect their two complimentary plants per household.

Council encourages all residents to participate in this meaningful initiative by planting these native species in their gardens.
