The McGowan Government is pleased that the Community and Public Sector Union, Civil Service Association (CPSU/CSA) has agreed to its new two-year enterprise agreement.
According to the CPSU/CSA, a record number of members voted with thousands agreeing to the updated agreement.
The conditions include:
- An immediate pay rise, $1,000 per annum, including backpay;
- 12 weeks' superannuation on unpaid parental leave;
- Stronger contracting-out and no privatisation clauses;
- Five paid days cultural and ceremonial leave for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders;
- Casual loading increased to 25 per cent, with three-hour minimum engagement;
- A new public sector holiday day-in-lieu (Easter Sunday);
- No increase to Government Regional Officers' Housing rents; and
- One extra day of bereavement leave, bringing the total to three.
As stated by Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston:
"I'm very pleased that CPSU/CSA members have agreed to the new enterprise agreement and this issue is now resolved.
"Without the public sector our society wouldn't be able to function, so I'd like to thank these workers for their continual efforts and contribution.
"The CPSU/CSA has recognised that the State is in a dire financial situation, however we have worked with the union to introduce some new and improved conditions which has helped us reach this agreement."
