Cricket Victoria's U19 and U17 Male Emerging Players Programs are the latest addition to a busy stretch at the Mildura Sporting Precinct, following recent Women's and Men's State camps and an upcoming Men's Second XI match.
The U19 program will run from Monday 21 to Thursday 24 September, followed by the U17 program from Monday 28 September to Thursday 1 October. Players will take part in T20 and one-day matches on turf, including matches under lights, as well as turf training sessions throughout each week.
Three balanced teams will be selected from across the Country and Metro squads for both weeks, with the matches forming part of the final selection process for the U17 and U19 Metro and Country teams competing at the Cricket Australia National Championships.
Day-night matches will begin at 3:30pm across both weeks, providing players with valuable experience competing under lights. Each program will also feature a T20 triple-header. The U19s will open their week with three T20 matches on Monday 21 September, while the U17s will close their week with a triple-header T20 on Thursday 1 October.
The triple header matches will begin at 11:00am and conclude with a T20 under lights from 7:00pm.
The Sunraysia Cricket Association will umpire the U19 matches.
Cricket Victoria Talent Development Specialist, Shane Koop, said: "Providing our emerging players with opportunities to play under lights is a key focus for Cricket Victoria. It exposes them to different conditions and challenges their ability to adapt and perform in an environment that reflects higher levels of the game," said Koop.
"The Mildura Sporting Precinct provides an outstanding setting for our players to experience high-quality cricket on turf and under lights. These matches will play an important role in their development and preparation for the season ahead.
"Bringing our Emerging Players Program to Mildura allows us to create balanced, competitive match opportunities while continuing to strengthen Cricket Victoria's connection with regional communities. We're grateful for the ongoing support of the Mildura Sporting Precinct, Sunraysia Cricket Association and the Mallee Murray Region."
These programs form part of Cricket Victoria's ongoing partnership with Mildura Rural City Council, which continues to bring elite cricket, talent pathways and community engagement opportunities to the Sunraysia region.
