Critical Care Nurse to Present Dissertation at Conference

Cardiff University

A critical care nurse who has excelled in her studies will present her dissertation research to a major European Conference.

Harriet Goudie, a student on the MSc in Critical Care at the School of Medicine, evaluated compliance to a care bundle designed to prevent and reduce the prevalence of delirium in critical care.

Now, Harriet has submitted an abstract to present her work to the European Society of Intensive Care Lives 2023 conference in Milan in October 2023.

Harriet, who graduates this week, said: "I had an amazing experience at Cardiff university completing my MSc, I had fantastic support from my tutor and could not recommend the course enough.

"I am really looking forward to putting it into practice and developing more research in my current role."

Sharon Norman Programme Director of the MSc in Critical Care at the School of Medicine said: "I have had the pleasure of being Harriet's personal tutor and her dissertation supervisor and want to congratulate her on her graduation.

"Her achievements are all the more inspiring when you consider that she started her degree at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and also has dyslexia.

"Her commitment and passion to both her studies and to improving the care of critically ill patients is humbling."
