Oslo - Crown Prince Haakon of Norway is extending his collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) until 2027. Appointed as a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador in 2003, the Crown Prince now marks more than 20 years of active dedication to global sustainability, poverty eradication, and the protection of oceans and marine resources.
As a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, the Crown Prince has been an avid advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), placing a particular emphasis on eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable marine ecosystems. For over two decades, he has helped highlight how local engagement and international cooperation can drive lasting change.
UNDP Programme Visits
During his tenure as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Crown Prince Haakon has visited UNDP's programmes around the world, including in Jamaica (2024), Kenya (2022), Colombia (2019), Liberia (2017), Timor-Leste (2015), Tanzania (2014), Zambia (2013), Haiti (2012), Nepal (2011), Botswana (2009), Mongolia (2008), Burundi (2007), Guatemala (2006), and Sierra Leone (2005).
Through these visits, the Crown Prince has met with local leaders, youth initiatives, and organizations working to reduce poverty, promote gender equality, and strengthen communities.
In recent years, the Crown Prince has emphasized the important role of youth entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation in all aspects of sustainable development.

Under the renewed agreement, the Crown Prince will continue to participate in events, dialogues, and programme visits that spotlight UNDP's mission to eradicate extreme poverty and achieve prosperity for all.
