"I am incredibly proud of Vanessa and Kim. This prestigious honor is the result of their many sustained contributions to the practice of oncology and palliative care nursing and the education and training of nurses around the globe," said Anne H. Gross, PhD, RN, FAAN, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Dana-Farber. "They are outstanding leaders in their fields and incredible colleagues to all of us."

Academy Fellows are leaders in their fields in every area of nursing practice, research, policy, and education. Battista and Noonan join an impressive group whose contributions to the nursing profession have improved the health of patients around the world. The Academy is inducting 253 distinguished nurse leaders from across the globe into the 2023 Class of Fellows.

"As the American Academy of Nursing's President, it gives me great pride to welcome these incredible leaders into our organization during our 50th anniversary year. Reflecting on the Academy's history, we began with 36 Charter Fellows in 1973 who saw the need for an organization that would recognize and elevate the impact of nursing on health care," said Kenneth R. White, PhD, RN, AGACNP, ACHPN, FACHE, FAAN, President of the Academy. "This year's group of inductees truly represents today's thought leaders and the diversity of our profession's policy leaders, practitioners, educators, and innovators."

Through a rigorous and competitive application process, the Academy's Fellow Selection Committee reviewed nearly 400 applications this year, ultimately selecting the 2023 Fellows based on their contributions to advance public health. Induction into the Academy is a significant milestone in which Fellows' past and current accomplishments are honored by colleagues within and outside the nursing profession.

Battista and Noonan will be inducted on Saturday, October 7, 2023, during the annual Academy of Nursing Conference in Washington, DC. They will join Dana-Farber colleagues and previously inducted fellows Anne Gross, PhD, RN, FAAN, Marilyn Hammer, PhD, DC, RN, FAAN, and Mary Cooley, PhD, RN, ANP-BC. This year's conference theme is "Celebrating 50 Years of Leadership, Policy, and Partnership."
