Dance Floor Brings Community Together

There was no shortage of smiles, laughter or air guitar solos at this year's All Abilities Dinner Dance on Thursday 28 May.

Around 60 guests, along with carers, family members and support workers, gathered at Moruya Golf Club for a Chinese feast before hitting the dance floor to tunes spun by DJ Matt Brown.

The Disney-themed dress-ups helped break the ice, but it didn't take long for the room to come alive. From the first song, the dance floor was packed with groovers showing off their best moves.

Eurobodalla Council's community development and youth coordinator Rhonnie South encouraged everyone at the start of the evening to introduce themselves to someone new and enjoy the opportunity to connect.

"We had such great feedback from another fantastic year of the event," Ms South said.

"It was wonderful to see people walking up and dancing with someone they hadn't met before. They all know how to have a good time and we were so happy to be able to facilitate an event like this for our community."

Ms South said it was more than just a night out. The annual dinner dance was about bringing people together, building friendships and creating opportunities for people to connect in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

She thanked the event crew which included two young team members from Roundsquared who gained new skills helping run the event.

"From setting up and serving meals to encouraging people onto the dance floor, the crew helped create a welcoming atmosphere and made sure the evening ran smoothly from start to finish," Ms South said.
