Dangerous operation of vehicle at Gold Coast

A 17-year-old male has been charged after a vehicle, stolen from a Reedy Creek residence was allegedly driven dangerously through a number of Gold Coast suburbs before being intercepted by Queensland Police on the M1 late yesterday.

Around 4:20pm police received information the Landrover Range Rover was travelling along Marine Parade at Labrador due to its manner of driving.

The station wagon was tracked and monitored by Polair as it continued to allegedly travel in a dangerous manner around a number of residential streets.

Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device near the intersection of Creek Street and the Pacific Motorway at Pimpama.

It will be further alleged the driver continued travelling in a dangerous manner before striking two police vehicles and crashing into a barrier on the Pacific Motorway at Coomera.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy, was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, fail to stop and disqualified driving.

He was due to appear in Southport Childrens Court today.

It will be alleged the Landrover was stolen from Snowwood Street after 9pm on Wednesday, March 30.
