Darebin detectives seize 90kg of GHB

Detectives from Darebin Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man after seizing a large amount of chemicals, cash and ammunition during warrants in Melbourne's north yesterday.

Investigators executed search warrants at addresses in South Morang, Epping and Campbellfield in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Officers collectively seized approximately 90kg of 1,4 Butanediol, a chemical allegedly used in the drug gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a large amount of cash and ammunition.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, negligently deal with proceeds of crime and possess cannabis.

The Epping man was held overnight to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
