Dawson, Deputy Asst. Secretary, to Visit Colombia, Peru

Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs Camille Dawson and NSC Director for Indo-Pacific Affairs Josh Rubin traveled to Colombia and Peru March 11-14. Deputy Assistant Secretary Dawson and Director Rubin's trip focused on strengthening connectivity between Colombia, Peru, and the Indo-Pacific, supporting Peru's 2024 APEC Host Year, and advancing bilateral cooperation on economic and people-to-people issues.

In Colombia and Peru, Deputy Assistant Secretary Dawson and NSC Director Rubin met with senior government officials, Congressional representatives, think tank leaders, and journalists, to discuss the challenges and opportunities of increasing engagement with the Indo-Pacific. Deputy Assistant Secretary Dawson and Director Rubin emphasized the benefits that the United States and our network of allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific bring to advancing collective capacity and addressing shared challenges that we see on both sides of the Pacific.
