Three new members have been appointed to the Rottnest Island Authority Board, bringing a broad range of skills and experience to guide the management of Rottnest Island/Wadjemup.
Michelle Rhodes, Michael Gunner, and Paula Rogers have been appointed for three-year terms commencing 1 November.
Michelle Rhodes brings more than three decades of experience in the environmental and conservation field, with expertise in sustainability, project environmental management, and environmental approvals.
Michael Gunner is the former Chief Minister of the Northern Territory and has extensive experience across government, governance, and commercial management. He has also worked in the private sector, including as Director AusWest at Fortescue.
Paula Rogers brings extensive experience in economic development and strategic communications, as well as strong connections across Western Australia's business community. She was most recently Chief Executive Officer of Committee for Perth.
The appointments are made under the Rottnest Island Authority Act 1987, which provides for a six-member Board, and requires a mix of experience.
Ms Rhodes, Mr Gunner, and Ms Rogers replace outgoing members Louise Watson, Guy Houston, and Anneke Brown.
As stated by Premier and Tourism, Trade and Investment Minister Roger Cook:
"Wadjemup is one of Western Australia's most treasured destinations, and I'm pleased to welcome Michelle Rhodes, Michael Gunner, and Paula Rogers to the Board.
"Together, they bring an impressive mix of environmental, commercial, government, and community experience that will complement the skills of the existing Board as we continue to protect what makes the island so special while ensuring it remains a world-class destination.
"I would also like to thank outgoing members Louise Watson, Anneke Brown, and Guy Houston for their service and contribution to the Rottnest Island Authority Board."
