Eligible households and businesses who aren't direct bill-paying customers of Synergy or Horizon Power are urged to apply for energy bill relief from the Commonwealth Government's Energy Bill Relief Fund.
As part of the 2025-26 Federal Budget, the Commonwealth Government extended the Energy Bill Relief Fund to provide a $150 electricity credit to eligible households and small businesses incurring electricity charges on 30 September 2025.
In administering the Household Electricity Credit, RevenueWA has paid over $2.1 million to 14,347 households to date.
While Synergy and Horizon Power customers had their credit automatically applied to their accounts on 11 October 2025, those who aren't customers of one of the two Western Australian State utilities must apply for the relief to RevenueWA or the Small Business Development Corporation.
People eligible to apply to RevenueWA include those who on 30 September 2025:
- were not a Synergy or Horizon Power customer;
- were an owner-occupier or a tenant incurring electricity costs;
- occupied a self-contained dwelling that could be lawfully used as a place of residence, including granny flats and dual key properties;
- used the property solely or predominantly for residential purposes; and either:
- their electricity was supplied through an embedded network, sub-metering arrangement, or other on-supply arrangement and they were invoiced by a third party for the electricity they used; or
- they were not connected to the electricity grid and could have their own infrastructure for generating electricity.
Common examples are strata apartment buildings, retirement villages, caravan parks, and regional communities that have electricity supplied by mining companies.
All eligible households should apply through the RevenueWA Online Services Portal ( apps.osr.wa.gov.au/portal/0/home ) prior to 31 March 2026.
The bill relief also applies to operators of home businesses not directly billed by Synergy or Horizon Power.
As stated by Finance Minister David Michael:
"Cost of living is a key focus for our government, and I encourage every household that is not a direct customer of Synergy and Horizon Power to apply for this credit before the end of March.
"This Household Electricity Credit puts money back in the pockets of households, and I know every dollar makes a difference for many."
As stated by Energy and Decarbonisation Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson:
"The Cook Government fully supports this initiative, which ensures households and small businesses on embedded networks or offgrid arrangements can access the same $150 energy bill relief.
"This credit can make a meaningful difference and I encourage eligible households and businesses to apply for the credit before the deadline."
