Santa snuck into The Mall this morning to give some children a peek at Santa's Village which opens on Saturday 1 December at 9.30am.

Council's Christmas in Darwin festivities kick off this Friday 30 November with the switching on of the lights on the City of Darwin Christmas tree in The Mall at 7.30pm

Deputy Lord Mayor Rebecca Want de Rowe was in The Mall to officially launch the program.

"The Christmas tree in The Mall is a much loved tradition with local's young and old eagerly awaiting the switching of the lights each festive season. The switching on of the lights will also officially mark the start of City of Darwin's jam-packed Christmas program," said Want de Rowe.

"I encourage the community to come along to the Boutique Markets this Friday from 4pm for great local food, craft, late night shopping and Christmas carols by the Darwin Chorale before the lighting of the tree."

Free parking is available at West Lane from 3pm on Friday 30 November and all other Council car parks after 5pm and all weekend.

The excitement in The Mall will continue throughout December with our special guest from the North Pole taking up shop in the Voyage Arcade until Christmas Eve.

Santa's Village will include a balloon artist, face painting, photo booth and craft activities by the Fun in the Parks team.
